Liverpool Legends: Roger Hunt Tribute Video

Roger Hunt joined Liverpool in July 1958 and quickly became a key player in Shankly’s Liverpool team in the 1960s and was a deadly goal scorer managing to net 41 goals in the 1961–1962 season. An incredible achievement.

In total, Roger Hunt scored 245 goals in 404 appearances for Liverpool between 1958 to 1969.

Roger Hunt is affectionately referred to as “Sir” Roger Hunt amongst Liverpool fans, despite his lack of a Knighthood.

Fernando Torres just bagged his 50th goal for Liverpool FC, at the same time making it the fastest ever 50 goals in LFC´s history – he managed to do it faster than Ian Rush, Michael Owen, John Alridge, Robbie Fowler, and Kenny Dalgleish. An amazing achievement.

Sami Hyypia leaves Liverpool

Sami Hyypia played his last game for Liverpool against Tottenham on 25th May 2009 after 10 years serving the club.

Hyypia was subbed on towards the end of the game and took the captain’s armband for his final game in a Liverpool shirt and the Liverpool crowd gave him a hero’s send off.

The Fields of Anfield Road (Hillsborough Tribute by Liverpool FC Legends)

Liverpool FC legends, including Phil Thompson and Kenny Dalglish got together to record a new version of The Fields of Anfield Road, and wrote a new, and special verse in memory of the 20 year anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

This reworked version was arranged by ex-Cast vocalist John Power and reached a peak position of 14 in the UK charts. The song, which featured former Liverpool FC players and high-profile city musicians, has so far sold over 22,000 copies.

Robbie Fowler Press Conference in Australia

Former England interntional and Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler takes up a two year contract to play for Australian A-League team North Queensland Fury FC.

North Queensland Fury FC are playing their first season in the A-League, and Robbie Fowler was cautious about their initial chances saying:
“This is a brand new team and until all the players get together and we train day in, day out … we will play a few games before the season we will see how it goes from that aspect. In terms of any football club you want to continue to win games. If you are winning games that breeds confidence and confidence helps you to do well in everything”

Fowler will move his wife and kids to Townsville. Pre-season training starts on 1 April with the league programme getting under way in August.

Still seemingly unable to stay out of trouble, Fowler also starts his new life abroad with a 6 month driving ban after being caught using his mobile phone while driving in England.
