Fernando Torres slotted home a volley, delivered from Dirk Kuyt, to secure a nervous win over West Brom. After the game, Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson revealed that he was close to signing Paul Konchesky.

Hodgson said:
“There are one or two minor details that need to be sorted (but) we hope to tie up a deal for Paul Konchesky in the next couple of days”
