    I’d rather believe AS Roma.
But this is drifting away from my point. Alonso was one of the most important players of Liverpool. When they lost him, they lost their spine of their midfield. If you don’t have a spine, you’ll crumble. They bought an injured Aquilani and as a result, they’re out of the CL and the Premier League title hunt.
They should’ve bought an immediate replacement for Alonso, not someone who is known for being injury prone and has had his first start at the end of December.

  12. maybe so, but it was then said not long after that the deal was structured in payments.

AS Roma said in an official statement that Liverpool paid 20 million and that the bonus will go on top of the 20 million.

  14. nope started and played well against wolves on saturday.

we havent payed 20m for him, we have so far payed 10m then over the next 2 to 3 seasons we will pay roma depending on appearences which goes up to 20m then a possible extra 2m based on performance related targets.

  15. yeah he aint as good as he was in 07 when he was brilliant. I think the back injury hes had has hurt his progress alot but he’s beginning to look more confident now after hes had a few games under his belt as he didnt have a proper pre-season.

Weird, there were a bunch of reports saying he got re-injured.
Still, +20 million for a player that is as injury prone as Aquilani is stupid.

  17. valid point he was pretty decent tbh when he first came to liverpool i guess we’l have to see at the end of the seson wether he breaks back through or not

  18. I said hes one of the most talented not THE best. poor list of CB’s though as agger is far superior NOW to cannavaro, whilst terry is vastly overated and lucio isnt as good as he was 3 years ago.
albiol, vidic, pique, mexes, chiellini are better than him no doubt right now but agger hasnt exactly played as much as them over the last 18months.

  19. We dont need this guy, complete waste of 20m. We have enough variety in midfield with Benayoun Mascherano, Lucas Gerrard, Kuyt and Riera. Realistically I can’t see this guy ever making much of an impact at Liverpool. What Liverpool are lacking is a second world class striker. Sure Torres is one of the best in the world but Liverpool cant rely on him all the time. That 20m should have been spent on another striker.

  20. il agree hes one of youre best centre backs but lets be honest you or me cud get a game at the back for liverpool this season, he is not one of europes best centre backs hes not even one of the best in the league; terry, vidic, cannavaro, lucio thats europes elite agger cant even be mentioned in the same breath as them

  21. wheres this extra 3 months come from exactly.

Hes fit to start against wolves on boxing day =I

    Then hate me. Don’t care.
Fact is, Liverpool payed +20 million for Aquilani as a replacement for Alonso.
He’s known for being injury prone and was injured when they bought him from AS Roma. Yet they decided to take the risk anyway. The result? He missed the first half of the season and is going to miss the next three months due to a new injury. So much for replacing Alonso. Liverpool spent 20 million on a player they can’t even use. If that isn’t a waste of money, then i don’t know what is.

  23. no he isnt he just needs to get playing more.

I hate people who judge a footballer based on the papers and about 1 matches worth of play.

  24. no the team or certain players arent doing the job they where last season like dirk shuyt.

  25. nope Im watching daniel agger. I watch him every home game at anfield and I tell you what he is one of europes most gifted CB’s and hes by far our best CB.
