What can you say – Liverpool needed a win more than anything today but found themselves being denied by a last minute equaliser from Robert Huth.
Stoke City began the game strongly, but it was Liverpool who took the lead after 57 minutes with a goal from Greek defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos, his first goal for the club.
Liverpool tried to hold on, but Stoke remained bright and tenacious. Stoke’s efforts was rewarded with a last minute corner that saw Higgenbotham head the ball across the goal, and across Liverpool’s messy defence, to Huth who was unmarked for a tap in.
