100 Players Who Shook The Kop: #100 – John Wark

John Wark made his debut for Liverpool FC on 31 March 1984 in a 2–0 league win against Watford at Vicarage Road, and Wark himself managed to score the first goal. Wark went on to prove himself as a dynamic, strong midfielder with a good eye for goal.

Despite being a defensive midfielder, John Wark was a prolific goalscroer – a fact never more evident when he finished as the second top goal scorer (second to Ian Rush) in only his second season with Liverpool FC. Wark managed to bag a total of 27 goals from his 62 appearances.

In later years Wark struggled with injury after breaking his leg, and he finally left Liverpool FC on 4th January 1988 to return to his former club Ipswich Town.

Despite his injury, Wark left liverpool with a record of 42 goals in 108 appearances, a goal every 2.6 games.
