Darren Farley became famous almost overnight when a mate of his took a video of him on his mobile phone and uploaded it to YouTube. The video showed Farley (in his mate’s shop) doing impersonations of Liverpool players.

The attention that the video got gave Darren a degree of fame and he found himself being booked to appear on Radio Shows and TV shows, such as Setanta Sports. Darren even phoned up Liverpool legend Ian St John while pretending to be Peter Crouch on the phone.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Farley said:
“It’s been mad, the impressions were really just my party piece and I’ve always taken off Gerrard and Carra.

“Then when Rafa took over as manager I was watching him on telly one morning while I was eating my cornflakes and I just started copying him. It came really naturally.”

“I didn’t think anything of it when my mate asked me to do the voices in his shop. People were coming into the shop and laughing while he was filming me.

“He didn’t get around to putting it up on the web for a few weeks, and then when he did he phoned me and said I’d better log on quick and see how many views it had. I was amazed.”
